Primary Responsibilities:

Individualized Care: Provide dedicated nursing care and support to a student with significant cognitive disabilities, Autism, and a communication disorder.

Behavioral Management: Monitor and manage the student's volatile and unpredictable behaviors in a safe and professional manner.

Health Monitoring: Continuously monitor the student's health status, administer medications, and manage any chronic conditions as outlined in the student’s healthcare plan.

Emergency Response: Quickly respond to any health emergencies or medical issues that arise, providing immediate and effective care.

Collaboration: Work closely with the student's parents, school staff, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and effective communication.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for the student, documenting all care provided and any changes in the student’s health status.

Support Integration: Assist the student in participating fully in classroom activities and school programs, providing health support as needed.

Key Qualifications:
-
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
-
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
-
Current CPR and First Aid certification
-
Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or a school setting

Experience working with students with cognitive disabilities, Autism, and communication disorders preferred
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Knowledge of state and local health regulations and school health policies

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
