A Field Engineer is assigned to an active project full time. Project locations are typically in the NYC Metropolitan Area. Under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Project Engineers, staff assigned as Field Engineers will perform various tasks related to the planning, engineering, and monitoring of a project.
The Field Engineer will be responsible for managing schedule, quality, change orders and engineering relating to specific packages, scopes or work areas.
II. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent experience).
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of submittal packages to the owner/designer, and/or follow-up with subcontractors/vendors as appropriate;
- Development of work plans for specific operations;
- Monitor construction progress in terms of quantities of work performed, performance vs schedule, quality, etc.
- Assist in the procurement of materials or equipment required for the work;
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Management of subcontractors, including schedule, quality, change orders and scheduling of work.
Typical Career Paths for Field Engineers would be to become more senior Project Engineers on active projects, and/or to become superintendents who manage the crews and subcontractors.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION
- 0-2 years of experience
- Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Auto Cad or drafting software.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
