Position Summary and Responsibilities
The position of I&C Engineer requires three to five years of experience in the design/development of industrial control systems preferably in the water/wastewater industry. Projects assigned typically include the following:
1. Site assessment and determination of needed instrumentation/SCADA upgrades
2. Review of existing project documents – P&ID, system architecture, electrical drawings
3. Coordination with clients on specific needs
4. Document findings – Write assessment or report of existing conditions and recommendations
5. Design/development of project drawings, including P&ID, system architecture, loop diagrams, installation details
6. Create project specifications, including instrumentation, networking, control narrative strategies, software and hardware requirements for SCADA PLC and HMI systems
7. Quality Control/Quality Assurance of project documents
8. Attend/Conduct project meetings with client
9. Review and comment on project submittals
10. Coordination with Electrical Engineering Department
Desired Skills and Experience
The candidate shall have the following skills or be able to attain:
1. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Texas
2. Design of construction documents listed above
3. Write Technical Memoranda based on site assessment
4. Drawing/PDF markup
5. Design relay schematics (motor control)
Preferred skills:
1. PLC and SCADA HMI development and creation of PLC I/O lists
2. Wide Area Network (WAN) design, including radio and cellular communications
3. Fiber optic cable specification
4. Control panel design
5. AutoCAD
6. VFD design/interface
7. Physical and cybersecurity assessment and design
