Pediatric Dentistry of Catskill in Catskill, NY

Dental Assistant Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· One year of experience as a dental assistant OR certification as a registered dental assistant
· Dental X-Ray License strongly preferred
· Pediatric experience strongly preferred
· Knowledge in Practice Management Charting
· Experience in Treatment Planning strongly preferred
· Assists dentist in the administration of treatment at the chair side as required or directed
· Ability to complete documentation promptly and accurately
· Ability to use sound judgement; possess a calm disposition and the ability to work easily with others

Dental Assistant Responsibilities:
· Primarily responsibility is to assist the providers and be always present with patients in room at all times
· Greet patients in waiting area and escorts patients to operatory
· Assists dentist in the administration of treatment at the chair side as required or directed
· Promotes an atmosphere supportive of good dental and general health by demonstrating good oral hygiene; questioning patients to ascertain home care status, instructing patients in techniques of flossing, and brushing.
· Maintain a sterile and neat working environment according to current infection control procedures
· Review patient’s health history, make chart entries under the direction of the operator and assure completion of forms and signatures
· Familiarize the patient with the aspects of their dental visit and provide support and compassion as needed
· Assist Dental Hygienist as needed; taking X-rays, getting patient seated and prepped for prophylaxis, setting up/cleaning treatment room
· Stock operatory and maintain clinical supply inventory. Communicate with office staff and vendors to insure prompt receipt of all orders
· Review daily schedule and set up appropriate trays and instruments
· Assist with front office procedures as requested
· Maintains patient confidence and protects patient and company by keeping information confidential
· Conduct preventative maintenance on dental equipment
· Complies with all company policies and procedures

Dental Assistant Work Schedule:
This full-time healthcare administrative customer service position typically works during our dentists' and orthodontists' regular hours of 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, but hours vary.
