Description:
We are seeking an experienced Loan Officer/MSR to join our growing Branch team. If you are a driven individual who is passionate about providing valuable services while assisting members on their path to financial freedom, this role may be a great fit for you.
The Loan Officer/MSR is responsible for providing a variety of lending and member service functions such as originating Consumer Loans and credit card applications by interviewing applicants, ordering credit reports, decisioning loans and notifying applicants of loan decisions, processing savings accounts, checking accounts, and loan transactions; making deposits, processing loan applications and underwriting loans, etc.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes tact and experience-based knowledge to resolve member (internal and external) problems by explaining specific policies and products while representing the Credit Union in a professional manner and maintaining positive member relations.
- Provides accurate information to members regarding Credit Union services, products, policies, and procedures. Analyzes member accounts in order to provide better services and performs a variety of account maintenance functions.
- Processes all transactions for members in person and via phone, mail, fax, and online services including deposits, transfers, and check withdrawals from checking/savings accounts, loan payments, cash advances for deposits, account transfers, name changes, processing check orders, and address changes.
- Verifies deposit amounts and examines checks for endorsement and negotiability. Inspects all checks, drafts, savings withdrawals, etc. to determine their negotiability. Disburses cashier checks and ATM/Debit cards.
- Prepares individual daily settlement by verifying accuracy. Balances daily transactions to include cash, Personal Teller Machines (PTM’s), and transfers. Locates and notifies Supervisor of any discrepancies.
- Assists members with payroll and direct deposit questions. Setup payroll distributions and transfers. Assists with EFT changes.
- Opens new member accounts and provides information to new and prospective members by explaining and cross-selling Credit Union products and services. Ensures all electronic services are setup and member can access accounts online. Completes forms for opening and processing all types of accounts, including share, share draft, money market, etc. Cross sells and services members. Conducts follow up calls to members to collect new business.
- Inputs all referrals in Synapsys and ACS for daily reporting.
- Gives prompt, efficient and accurate service. Processes requests such as opening of new checking /other savings accounts, debit cards, Share Certificates/Money Markets, and additional services. Processes IRA transactions, handles return mail, faxes documents, deletes/adds joint owner requests, etc. Replies to member correspondence by form letter or email regarding transactions affecting their accounts.
- Places stop payments on checks/ACH items, provides copies of cancelled checks. Processes wire transfer requests and transaction disputes, and forwards to appropriate person for transmission, fax documents, etc.
- Conducts visits and establishes contacts with eligible organizations, businesses, and schools within the field of membership in order to open new accounts.
- Acts within the policies and procedures of the Credit Union. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a manner which protects the integrity and reputation of the Credit Union.
- Performs other operational and administrative duties, as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or Management.
- Loan Interviewing/Processing/Disbursing
- Originates loans to generate revenue and meet the growth goals established by the Credit Union.
- Interviews loan applicants (in person, by telephone, online), gathering the required information for a credit application, explaining loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements. Advises member on the best option and cross-sells services in a professional manner. Inputs loan applications into automated lending system.
- Investigates loan applications by ordering credit reports, analyzing the information provided, and verifying information with creditors, the applicant, and the applicant’s employer. Processes Credit Card applications and limit increases. Processes mail-in and fax-in loans.
- Ensures that all loan documentation is complete before processing the loan request. Informs and explains loan decisions to members. Approves/denies loans within lending authority ($35,000), counter-offers, or sends to Lending Manager or Credit Committee for review.
- Maintains all loan documentation in the member’s file, ensuring that the policies and procedures of the Credit Union are followed.
- Utilizes tact and experienced-based knowledge to resolve more complex consumer lending problems, explaining specific policies and products, while representing the Credit Union in a professional manner and maintaining positive member relations.
- Releases collateral on share, stock and auto secured loans. Processes title work, lien releases, and collateral protection insurance. Prepares loan payoff letter request.
- Performs member service duties, marketing, and cross-sells the Credit Union products and services on and off-site at marketing events.
- Acts within the policies and procedures of the Credit Union. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a manner which protects the integrity and reputation of the Credit Union.
- Performs other consumer lending, processing, and/or administrative duties assigned by the Lending Manager and/or Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a Credit Union is preferred.
- Management experience is preferred.
- Symitar/Episys core processor experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
