JOB SUMMARY
This is a high-level, client-facing, managerial role within our organization. There will be 2-3 weeks of onboarding and training to learn the ropes and understand our clients. In addition to complex business/personal tax preparation, you will be an integral leader of our team.
- After 30 days: you’ll be aware of our processes, where to find information and deliver returns to clients
- After 60 days: you’re able to conduct client research, communicate directly with clients and hold quarterly update meetings
- 90 days and beyond: you’re participating in process enhancement, improving efficiencies, giving feedback, managing 2 staff-level Tax Preparers, and directly helping our clients save $ their on taxes

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and/or review moderate and complex business and personal income tax returns, including multi-state returns and returns with foreign disclosures
- Prepare and review sales tax returns for multiple states and/or countries
- Provide tax issue resolution services to business and individual clients
- Register new and existing businesses with state and local jurisdictions for income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax purposes
- Calculate/prepare quarterly estimated tax projections for businesses and individuals
- Conduct virtual client meetings to discuss tax returns, estimated taxes, client financial position, and address any client questions and concerns
- Deliver a full range of other tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe
- Assist with tax planning and implementation projects
- Conduct tax research and continue to develop industry expertise including staying current on regulatory and industry changes, implementing new standards and technical pronouncements, and contributing to staff development through sharing of industry knowledge.
- Hire, develop and train staff-level tax accountants
- Plan, manage and supervise multiple client engagements to ensure exceptional client service while meeting both internal and external deadlines, coordinating staffing, time budgets, and billing
- Develop and improve processes and workflows, contributing to company expansion
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 12+ years of tax experience preparing complex tax returns
- Must be a licensed EA or CPA
- MUST be prepared to work on complex technical projects alongside their staff
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Taxation/Accounting
- In-depth knowledge of the tax code for individuals and small business
- Quick learner and quick thinker
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- Problem solver with strong communication, organizational, analytical, client service, and technical skills
- MS Excel, QuickBooks, and accounting software proficiency
- Extremely comfortable with technology and virtual workspace
- Strong work ethic with the ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and work effectively independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience as a Senior Tax Manager
- Preparation of sales tax returns
- Knowledge of UltraTax CS is a plus
