FPW Media, a rapidly growing creative studio in Springfield, Oregon, is seeking a Director of Films to handle leading productions, managing, supervising, and assigning work to the Films team, and acting as an officer of the company. As the leader of the Films team, you will be charged with developing and managing timelines, overseeing all Films project milestones including concept development, storyboard, pre-and on-set production, and post-production, and ensuring a healthy and productive workplace culture. You will work closely with the VP of Creative Services and Creative Director to ensure assets are produced according to the overall company’s strategy. The Director of Films will work to create, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to increase the efficiency and profitability of the Films Department.
The Director of Films will work closely with the VP of Creative Services to build up and expand the Films Department with talented team members that set the department up for success and expansion in the near future.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a team
- Supervise additional staff during Films productions
- Manage, oversee, and develop a team of contractors
- Hire and train new Films team members

- Successfully maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times – understanding that sensitive personnel issues should only be shared on a need-to-know basis.
- Utilize strong supervisory and leadership skills to set clear expectations with stakeholders, peers and direct reports.
- Set appropriate and professional boundaries with direct reports – ensuring fair and consistent treatment across the team.
- Model and ensure compliance with FPW policies, the employee handbook, and other best practices.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team; act as a supervisor and leader to foster career growth.
- Organize and track schedules and performance of Film Team members
- Manage disciplinary actions for the Films team in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Ensure team complies with established proficiencies in industry best practices and/or technical certifications as required.
- Contribute to, develop and/or present new or modified department policies and procedures that will accelerate FPW’s structured growth.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental leadership to foster positive and productive internal relationships.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage, supervise, and lead the Films team in a manner that ensures a productive and healthy workplace – promoting employee retention and accountability.
- Delegate work to Film Team members, tracking capacity, and providing support and accountability for timelines and projects as necessary.
- Engage with the Account Management team and Primary Stakeholders in a professional, respectful manner to effectively acquire all necessary information required to efficiently complete client work to the best quality possible.
- Engage in client development best practices, including clear, consistent, and timely client communications, relationship building, demonstrated expertise, and anticipating client needs, especially on set.
- Report to and work with the Vice President of Creative Services on day-to-day operations of the Films department
- Deliver high-quality product on time and within budget – ensuring projects are on schedule and budget at all times.
- Successfully staff the necessary production crew to maintain the established Films operating tempo: including actors, makeup artists, designers, and contractors.
- Ensure all supplied gear is properly maintained and damaged equipment is reported and replaced if necessary.
- Continually source and hire valuable contractors based on FPW needs.
- Create pre-production documents and successfully coordinate each shoot to align with pre-production requests.
- Identify best practices for video and evolve daily operations as necessary
- Oversee asset collection to ensure all media is archived appropriately and can be readily obtained, including meta-tagging.
- Participate in the deployment of area strategic plans, goals, and objectives ensuring alignment with those of the films division and company.
- Provide Vice President of Creative Services with informal portfolio feedback on an ongoing basis and formal portfolio feedback through the annual performance evaluation process to identify and develop talent.
- Participate in the implementation of divisional and company initiatives and strategies.
- Ensure and promote the development of the department management team/succession planning through coaching, training, and leadership development.
- Ensure a strong and robust communications process between all managers of creative services as needed by leading communications sessions and meetings with managers to ensure the appropriate dissemination of communications to support staff.
- Implement business initiatives including prompt corrective action plans for the division.
- Ensure film team members receive the appropriate training and education, including ongoing compliance training.
- Administrative duties (i.e. time sheet review, project time allowables/budgets, paperwork)

- need to be able to use advanced accounting software and other computer-based tools to work effectively. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Davinci Resolve, live streaming programs, and Google Suites or related software.
- An extensive understanding of all key aspects of video production including lighting, framing, recording clean audio and running remote video shoots, working with motion design and animation. An extensive understanding of all key aspects of video & photo post-production including creative editing, cutting, retouching, color correction, audio mixing, and motion graphics.
- Must have the ability to perform duties independently and autonomously with limited direction.
Physical Requirements:
Work to be conducted primarily in-office, or otherwise at client locations. This position requires routine, reliable in-office presence and may be required to work unpredictable hours, including weekends and potentially holidays. The work environment may include outdoor and unpredictable conditions, requiring frequent and regular travel, sometimes overnight or out of state/country. Work environments may require the use of PPE. This position will require lifting large, bulky objects (up to 50lbs.) independently, or team-lifting (up to 100lbs) in short duration and distance; and long hours at a computer using a keyboard and mouse in addition to prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (must include experience in a video production environment and at least 1 year of managing a team.)
