Outer Banks Boat Harbor has been in business for over 30 years and we are a certified Yamaha outboard full-line dealer. Our business is growing and we are looking for an experienced Outboard Mechanic looking to take the next step and become a Service Manager.
The candidate MUST:
- Come from a marine industry background in outboard service
- Have a strong attention to detail
- Be able to work collaboratively and lead other service technicians.
- Confident in their communication skills and talking with customers
- Comfortable working with people from all backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will have been to Yamaha outboard schools and have multiple certifications. ABYC, NEMA, and Garmin certifications a huge plus.
Responsibilities:
- Have an extensive knowledge of marine mechanics and troubleshooting and of the tools and parts required for each job.
- Good troubleshooting skills in outboard engines and marine boat systems.
- Be willing to supervise and oversee other technicians.
- Manage all the work going through the shop, ordering parts.
- Be comfortable talking with customers.
- Be comfortable and proficient in towing boats and backing up trailers.
- Be confident in your boat handling skills on the water of all boat sizes.
- Work as part of a team.
- Take initiative in coming up with solutions.
- Handle customer concerns and address problems.
- Be a leader and mentor to junior technicians.
This is not a desk job. You will be required to help work on the boats/motors as well as managing other techs, pulling & ordering parts, customer contact and managing the work through the shop. This is a working manager's position. We are a small company and need everyone doing many tasks. You will be required to bring in your own hand tools. We will supply major tools and factory specialty tools.
