Substance Abuse Counselor needed to work in a residential setting providing the following services: screening, assessment, individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, case management, drug testing, education, etc.
*Experience with Drug Medi-Cal/SAPC preferred*
Essential Functions
· Conducts individual and group substance abuse education and awareness, counseling sessions, and routine case management, including assessment, intake, crisis intervention, and exit interviews.
· Maintains documentation of all counseling sessions, substance abuse services, and other services.
· Ensures compliance with State/County/Agency policies and procedures.
· Develops and maintains counselor skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education.
· Attends and actively participates in all team and staff meetings, community meetings, and supervision/consultation.
Minimum Requirements
· Certification recognized by the California Department of Health Care Services (CAADE, CADTP, or CCAPP) is required.
· Prefer experience with the justice-involved population.
· Working knowledge of the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
· Ability to interact professionally in both individual and group counseling settings.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work with a team of professionals and approach work assignments with a team strategy.
· Ability to work with computers and software typically used by the department.
Each Certified Counselor will oversee a caseload of up to 12 participants. Each participant is to receive a minimum of twenty-two (22) hours of treatment each week; services are to be outlined in individualized treatment plans approved by Director. A copy of the treatment plan is to be provided to the participant to ensure they are aware of their expected participation. During weekly individual session, the Certified Counselor is to review the participation that has occurred over the past week to ensure compliance. Certified Counselors are to counsel, document and report both compliance and non-compliance to the Lead Case Manager. Certified Counselor is responsible for documenting each service rendered with counselor and ensuring documentation accounts for all attended services in participants files on a weekly basis. A report is to be generated every month and presented to the Lead Case Manager for review; this report is to include, but is not limited to overall participation, attitude, progress towards goals, etc.

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
