Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Controls and Automation Programmer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in designing, programming, and commissioning robotic systems. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our clients’ automation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with controls engineers and project managers to understand project requirements.
- Develop PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) programs for robotic systems.
- Program and configure industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA) for various applications, including material handling, welding, assembly, and inspection.
- Optimize robot motion paths, cycle times, and safety features.
- Troubleshoot and debug automation systems during installation and commissioning.
- Provide technical support to clients and assist with system integration.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in robotics and automation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in controls programming and robotics.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.).
- Familiarity with vision systems and sensors.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client installations and support.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with collaborative robots (cobots) and safety programming.
- Knowledge of motion control systems (servo drives, motion controllers, and VFD’s).
- Certification in robotics programming (e.g., FANUC Certified Robot Programmer).
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and smart manufacturing.
