Electrical Engineer – MEP/AEC Industry
Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer in the MEP industry is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of electrical systems in buildings. This includes power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, security systems, and other low voltage systems. The role requires collaboration with mechanical and plumbing engineers to ensure integrated and efficient building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Design electrical systems for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
- Develop load calculations and energy simulations to ensure systems are energy efficient and meet client requirements.
- Specify electrical equipment, materials, and components in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Project Management:
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate electrical designs with overall project plans.
- Oversee and manage the electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any electrical engineering issues that arise.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical system malfunctions or performance issues.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure proper installation and functionality.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and safety standards.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Participate in quality assurance and control activities to maintain high standards in all electrical engineering deliverables.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including design reports, specifications, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and any issues encountered.
- Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 4-10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the MEP/AEC industry.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
