JOB SUMMARY
Perform various production-related duties in assembling customized composite products for customers, including operating multiple basic hand and power tools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates several basic hand tools to assemble products.
- Cut raw materials with scissors, electric scissors, rotary knives, and utility knives.
- Prepare tools by the application and removal of various release agents.
- Lay-up fiberglass or carbon fiber, epoxy fabric, and peel ply.
- Vacuum bag components for the cure.
- Demold composite parts after cure.
- Trim composite parts to a pre-determined size by deburring edges.
- Visually inspects all production materials for foreign objects and conformance with quality standards.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Understanding of and experience with light mechanical operations.
- Basic knowledge of hand and measuring devices.

To ensure the company’s success, complete all tasks accurately, efficiently, and within given timeframes while following ISO procedures. Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers and always adhere to company policies and procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, but demonstrated professionalism could lead to growth.
MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS
Moderate mental and visual attention is required for performing manual work, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that need frequent decisions to detect and adjust for a variance from proper operation.
EQUIPMENT USED
Ability to use an epoxy roller, material cutter, dust mask, safety glasses, rubber, latex gloves, apron, respirator, hearing protectors, or any essential tools for the demolding product.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to reach, stand, lift, use fingers, crouch, walk, stoop, push, pull, grasp, feel, talk, perform repetitive motions, and hear.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The Composites Technician will wear the appropriate PPE but may be exposed to atmospheric conditions (e.g., fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), proximity to moving mechanical parts, and air and skin exposure to lubricant or cutting fluids (e.g., oil, solvents, epoxies).
