JOB
Park Maintenance Supervisors direct and participate in the maintenance, operation, and repair of city parks and their facilities and equipment within jurisdictions. Employees in this job classification maintain facilities and equipment by maintaining inventory and overseeing or participating in the installation or repair of park facilities and equipment. Park Maintenance Supervisors communicate with others to coordinate events held at parks and supervise the set-up and tear-down at events. In addition, employees will perform inspections. Work is primarily performed outdoors, and employee will supervise others in the maintenance and repair of park facilities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Directs and participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of parks and recreation facilities, grounds and equipment.Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.Performs administrative functions for the Recreation Department to ensure that the crews have the proper supplies and equipment to complete the required projects.Conducts inspection of equipment and vehicles, and city park buildings.Supervises the maintenance of the lawns and landscape by ensuring that the work crews are performing tasks such as cutting lawns, pruning shrubs and leaf blowing.Purchases equipment and supplies to be used for events or maintenance of the facility.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is primarily performed at outdoor worksites such as parks and sports complexes. Work involves use of electrical, gas, or air powered tools and equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, power trimmers, etc. Work may involve using chemical spray equipment necessary for fertilization and weed prevention. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job involves significant and concerted physical exertion required for regular prolonged periods of walking, lifting, and carrying. May involve regular lifting of items or objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
