SUMMARY:
Oversees kitchen staff in the preparation of food and quality of food.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Insures that the kitchen staff is preparing all food stuffs properly.
- Insures the quality and freshness of the food being prepared.
- Assists the cooks when necessary with the preparation.
- Insures the general cleanliness and sanitation of the areas is maintained.
- Assists the Executive Chef as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have attended a cooking school for at least one year. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk and taste and smell.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three to five years’ culinary experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Driver’s License and Health card.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must have Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
