Astriata is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Web Designer to join our award-winning creative agency. The ideal candidate enjoys problem solving through good design and is motivated by creating optimal user experiences.

What We’re Looking For In Our Ideal Candidate:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in web design and user research with demonstrated ability to problem solve, organize, and analyze data and translate into UX/UI that is intuitive.
- Strong critical thinking skills with creative, detail and client-oriented approach to proactive identification and resolution of issues.
- Keen eye for graphic quality and design consistency.
- Detail-oriented in reviewing content and styling content.
- Passionate about performance and user experience.
- Continuously strives to improve the product.
- Eagerly participates in the process and advocates for the user.
- Continuously learning and applying new skills and best practices.
- Meets deadlines and works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

- Branding, animation, and illustration skills a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
Design:
- Concept-driven visual communications for complex and custom web systems.
- Provide professional, clean, and creative UX/UI design solutions that support the project objectives and ensure the success of the project, and work with the team to provide comprehensive strategies..
- Apply design thinking, employ a user-centric mindset, and demonstrate critical thinking.
- Design responsive pages that can be built within given parameters.
- Create atomic/component-driven design.
- Create design websites that meet Section 508 compliance and the latest WCAG guidelines.
- Follow creative and art direction.
- Production work related to both print and digital design (print collateral, social media, marketing materials).
- QA HTML files for design integrity and give detailed feedback to developers related to CSS edits.
- Create web style guides.
- Branding, animation and illustration skills if applicable.
- Create information architecture and wireframes.
- Create user personas, user journeys, and task flows.
- Content entry and editing in CMS such as WordPress or Sitefinity.
User Research:
- Plan, conduct, and analyze user research such as focus groups, interviews, surveys, card-sorting, tree-testing, and task-based usability testing.
- Interpret and translate user research into user personas, user flows, information architecture, and wireframes.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop a thorough understanding of our services and technology solutions.
- Maintain organized files and proper lines of communication across entire project team.
- Work collaboratively with the team, establishing relationships built on trust by delivering clear, consistent, and accurate communication.
- Proofread copy within designs and thinking critically about content.
- Manage and track time on assigned projects.
- Participate in client presentations as needed.
- Write design and user research related reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in web design and user research.
- Ability to problem solve, organize, and analyze data and translate into UX/UI that is intuitive.
- Experience collaborating with a small development and design team.
- Proficient with UX best practices.
- Proficiency in working with websites content management systems.
- Familiarity with HTML5, CSS, SCSS/SASS.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Google software and Microsoft software.
- Resides in the US (Maryland, Virginia, DC area preferred).
- Ability to travel to Maryland periodically for client and company meetings.
