General Purpose
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. To teach STEAM literacy to K-8 students and assist teachers with the use of instructional technology.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
∙ Teach K-8 students the knowledge and skills to use computers as tools for learning, responsible recreation and research.
∙ Teach lessons in the media center or classrooms promoting effective digital citizenship and web activity
∙ Collaborate with instructional staff to determine appropriate use of computer instruction
∙ Select and maintain appropriate digital resources for students and teachers
∙ Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
∙ Maintain professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
∙ Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records; ensure machines and equipment are in proper working order
∙ Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
∙ Serves as chairperson of the technology committee
∙ Responsible for teaching the school wide K-8th grade NASCO STEM:IT Program
∙ Assist with supervising the use of technological, instructional and communication media for the
school community .
∙ Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent
effective teaching with technology, engagement, use of technology and online tools such
as Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc) as well as
online educational platforms to enhance remote and in-person instruction
∙ Provide Technology Workshops for Parents
∙ Works effectively with all members of the school community
∙ Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Qualified Applicants must be:
∙ NYS certified in Technology Education. (Special Education a plus)
∙ In depth knowledge of and ability to use MS Office, PC hardware and software
∙ Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
