Job Description
Purpose
-
Lead portfolio & program management team responsible for a segment of a therapeutic area, including contributing to the development & delivery of the TA strategy
-
Provide leadership to direct reports responsible for program management of asset teams and sub-teams to ensure delivery of the aligned asset strategies

Serve as a leader for program management, both within the function and across AbbVie
Responsibilities
-
Drive and contribute to advancement of the TA strategy through leading asset and sub-team portfolio program management team members
-
Manages program assignments and resource allocation in collaboration with the PPM TA Head
-
Recruits, develops, manages and retains PM team members to support segment of TA
-
Provide feedback and coaching to direct reports to align with AbbVie ways of working

Responsible for talent management process including annual evaluations and goal setting

Provide guidance to team on efficient and effective ways to plan, prepare and present at governance forums

Support effective operation of therapeutic area governance processes, if required
-
Provide leadership to support advancement of TA strategic initiatives as required

Support consistent and effective reporting of assets within scope of accountability

Support business development evaluations for the therapeutic area to enable robust decision making

Provide leadership and/or operational support for cross-functional initiatives necessary to advance the delivery of the TA strategy

Serve as a leader for program management, both within the department and for AbbVie
- Drive shared learning across PM staff to aid increased consistency across teams both in standards of PM support and team operations.
- Actively contributes to the continual improvement of the Portfolio Program Management function
Qualifications
-
8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of roles associated with drug development (research & development, commercial, project management, operations) with a track record of expertise in one or more therapeutic areas

Minimum of 4 years supporting cross-functional drug development teams in a core function (Program management, Commercial, Development, Regulatory, Operations)

Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Broad knowledge of program management practices in the pharmaceutical industry

Experience in late-stage drug development, including being part of a launch team and experience with both global and regional teams

Preferred: Experience leading direct reports

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
