DEVELOPMENT & SOURCING Manager
UNIFORM DIVISION
POSITION PURPOSE:
To develop and oversee production specifications and manufactured products in various factories in accordance with the company’s mission and philosophy.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Develop sourcing strategies that meet our company’s goals and objectives.
- Research, analyze and evaluate prospective factories, making sure to identify their core competencies and capabilities and gather all needed information to determine if they meet our qualifications.
- Recommend the selection of factories that meet our sourcing goals and objectives which include meeting target costs, quality, minimums, lead times and certifications.
- Measure and monitor factory performance to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues as needed in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain effective business relations with factories, suppliers, coworkers and management.
- Oversee product development and manufacturing schedules to ensure prototypes, photo samples, and finished goods are delivered on time.
- Coordinate the timely production and approval of all go-by samples, assure they are being used in the production process and assure there is a complete set of signed go-by samples for both finished goods and raw materials at the manufacturing facility.
- Coordinate the timely introduction of current or future products to include locating and recommending raw materials and factories for production.
- Coordinate the competitive pricing process for finished goods and raw materials.
- Monitor current and alternative sourcing markets and develop sourcing strategies based on market intelligence gathered.
- Work with the Sales department to understand customer product requirements and communicate these requirements to the factories.
- Coordinate all milestone meetings at each stage of the development process making sure all samples, costs and other related information are accurately compiled and ready for review.
- Manage the Tech Pack process or fit program for all new and carryover styles.
- Work with factories to ensure sufficient capacity at each factory for the upcoming year or new program launch.
- Develop negotiation strategies that meet business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with supplier, which includes periodic rebidding to ensure our costs remain competitive.
- Work with the Logistics Department to research duty and freight rates and make sure they are properly accounted for in the landed cost.
- Negotiate and manage key terms with factories which include cost, minimums, lead times, payment terms and other related terms.
- Work collaboratively with factories and coworkers to identify and execute continuous cost and performance improvement strategies.
- Work with the Quality Assurance team to monitor quality, and as issues arise, investigate the root cause and provide for proper and timely resolution.
- Research and identify necessary product testing. Coordinate testing with approved labs making sure to communicate all non-compliance findings with the appropriate people and coordinate resolution.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the global sourcing environment.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible product development and/or factory experience strongly desired.
- Ability to travel overseas.
