Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior IT Project Discipline Engineer (DE) to join their IT team in Detroit, MI. The DE provides technical discipline and governance support to projects. The DE is engaged throughout the project lifecycle by overseeing engineering design, implementation of technical architecture, cybersecurity, and performance per organization’s standards and governance processes. Provides technical leadership on selecting vendors and defining/deploying technical deliverables. The DE understands SDLC processes, security and systems design best practices, general designs and architecture patterns, compliance awareness, and frameworks to ensure high-quality technical solutions on projects. In addition, the DE supports technical deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously.
This role is currently HYBRID, meaning some work will be onsite, and likely more in the future. Seeking local candidates, or those willing to relocate, to work onsite in Detroit.

Responsibilities
- Works with business, performing organization SMEs, and other technical teams to ensure design documentation and approvals of technical deliverables are completed per defined standards
- Collaborates with various technical staff and/or clients to identify and assess requirements that effectively meet both functional and non-functional capabilities, including but not limited to: architecture, engineering, security, networking, telecommunications, performance, and technical deployment plans
- Collaborates with project teams to ensure technical testing (load testing, penetration testing, etc.) needs are documented, validated, and approved by stakeholders
- Collaborates with delivery teams and third-party vendors to follow implementation governance processes during project execution
- Assists project managers and teams to develop and monitor technical issues, risks, and lessons learned, as well as coordinating with the technical project teams
- Confirms that project deliverables are in alignment with company standards, practices, and processes
- Reviews technical artifacts and drives technical governance
- Utilizes a variety of operating system principles and tools to facilitate effective and innovative solutions
- Leads and participates to improve practice platform processes and/or client processes
- Mentors junior team members
- Stays abreast of latest technologies and vendor offerings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Master’s degree desired
- 10+ years of relevant IT experience
- Industry recognized software architecture, technical architecture, and technical developer certifications, including software development methodologies (e.g., Agile)
- Experience in utilizing IT reporting tools and process mapping tools
- Understanding and awareness of the IT industry (e.g., emerging technologies, industry standards, support services, architectures, opensource initiatives, systems design and systems integration, and industry software development methodologies)
- Understanding and experience of various technical frameworks: Architecture, Security, Networking, Infrastructure, Cloud Services, CI/CD, and Telecommunications
- Understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics architectures
- Working IT knowledge in one or more of: application development, distributed computing, web development, SOA, large vendor systems, APIs, and big data, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., agile)
- Experience in identifying technical risks, issues, and implementing mitigation plans
- Experience in providing guidance and development of technical performance plan including performance testing tools knowledge
- Communicate effectively, both orally and written, at all levels, including internal or external parties
- Ability to render decisions in collaboration with diverse support groups on architecture and engineering issues and methods
- Ability to make clear and precise presentations at all levels of management
- Ability to build customer loyalty by providing superior service to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of all customers
Benefits
- Pay range is up to $160K annually ($75 to $80 per hour, commensurate with experience)
