Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical (LDCFM) is a comprehensive, all-hazards fire department serving the City of Lawrence and Douglas County. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and strategic thinker to join our team as the Chief of Staff. The ideal candidate will excel at fostering collaboration between internal and external partners to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our fire medical services.

- Provide comprehensive professional support and advisory services to the Fire Chief and Command Staff, focusing on the vision, mission, outreach, and political awareness associated with the Office of the Fire Chief.
- Lead values-focused leadership and strategic management across LDCFM program areas, encompassing operational, administrative, planning, evaluation, and budgetary functions.
- Oversee tasks related to Human Resources, Public Information, Community Engagement, Recruitment, Data Analysis, and Strategic Planning, serving as a liaison to other City departments and collaborative connections.
- Coordinate improvements, fiscal and budget stewardships, policies, and procedures for LDCFM, identifying resource needs, recommending improvements, and providing regular progress reports to the Fire Chief.

- Possess a comprehensive understanding of best practices in fire medical departments, covering operations, administration, training, prevention, and emergency medical services.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively operate under stress and make sound judgments in stressful and time-sensitive situations, while maintaining professionalism in interactions with the public and stakeholders.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills, including the development and implementation of goals, procedures, and emergency response strategies, as well as the supervision and evaluation of personnel.
- Conduct thorough analysis of problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations to support organizational objectives and enhance service delivery.
- Possess knowledge of pertinent national, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards, as well as modern office procedures, budget administration, and safe work practices. To include human resource related oversight, labor standards, budgetary responsibility amongst other executive functions.
