We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Shipping Coordinator to join our team at Gatto Industrial Platers. The Shipping Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our shipping department. This position is responsible for planning local truck routes for the pick-up and delivery of customer orders and ensuring the efficient movement of products to and from our facility.
Responsibilites:
1. Plan and Optimize Local Truck Routes:
- Efficiently plan and optimize local truck routes for pickups and deliveries to minimize travel time and maximize efficiency.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule timely pickups and deliveries, ensuring adherence to planned routes.
2. Coordinate Communication and Documentation:
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues that arise.
- Accurately and efficiently process customer paperwork, ensuring all shipping and receiving documentation is complete and up-to-date.
3. Review and Inspect Shipments:
- Review incoming and outgoing orders for damage or discrepancies, taking proactive steps to address any issues.
- Communicate with customers to resolve any issues related to shipment conditions, ensuring customer satisfaction.
4. Maintain Organized Warehouse and Dock Areas:
- Ensure the warehouse floor and dock areas are well-organized and maintained to support efficient operations.
- Implement and maintain systems for tracking inventory and shipments, ensuring a smooth workflow and organized space.
5. Handle Additional Shipping and Receiving Tasks:
- Manage any additional tasks related to the shipping and receiving of products, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
6. Enhance Customer Satisfaction:
- Provide timely and accurate information to customers regarding their shipments, including tracking details and delivery schedules.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries or complaints promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
7. Utilize Technology and Tools:
- Use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage shipping operations and documentation.
8. Problem Identification and Solution Development:
- Identify potential problems and proactively take steps to prevent them from becoming larger issues.
- Develop reasonable solutions that balance good customer service with maintaining company profitability and efficiency.
9. Demonstrate Initiative and Resourcefulness:
- Take charge of situations and use available resources to solve problems independently.
- Present management with well-thought-out solutions and demonstrate good judgment in applying company policies flexibly when necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a dispatching, shipping, or logistics role preferred.

- Familiarity with order picking and package handling procedures.
- Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks is a plus.
