This is a contractual position on a 1099
The AHA Instructor is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction of AHA-approved courses, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as certification allows.
Job Relationships
Reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of students. May deliver instruction for BLS, ACLS, and PALS, as certification allows.
- Develop, update, and maintain program/discipline curriculums and instructional materials.
- Maintain accurate student attendance.
- Maintain a clean, organized environment with an emphasis on safety.
- Assess, document, and enhance student learning by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting attainment of learning outcomes.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers, employers, area high schools, and professional organizations.
- Maintain professional/technical knowledge and skills including currency in assigned discipline, required occupational certification/licensing, and instructional technology/delivery methods.
- Depending on program/discipline, courses may be taught in the classroom, lab/shop, outdoor locations, clinical sites, and/or online and may include day and/or evening classes.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Licenses/Certificates
- If providing instruction for ACLS courses, must be certified through the American Heart Association as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor.
If providing instruction for PALS courses, must be certified through the American Heart Association as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor.

- Ability to carry, life, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
