Junior Chefs Kitchen provides hands on cooking and nutrition classes for kids ages 2-18. We believe in increasing access to the essential health information of food and nutrition by empowering youth with cooking skills and healthy eating resources that are good for people, the planet and our community. We are looking for an Assistant General Manager to join our team! This role has the potential for growth and mobility as we expand to locations 2 and 3 next year!
Position Title: Assistant General Manager (AGM)
Position Summary: The AGM leads and manages studio operations, ensuring efficient day-to-day and long-term management. Responsibilities include curriculum development, staff management, customer service (to both kids and parents!), financial oversight, and community engagement to provide exceptional educational cooking experiences.
Responsibilities:
General Operations & Purchasing:
- Lead daily operations for an efficient, pleasing environment.
- Develop and improve operational systems and processes using data and feedback.
- Manage food and labor costs; develop purchasing protocols.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and manage the vendor list.
Curriculum Development & Instruction:
- Create and perfect recipes and prep lists for classes and events.
- Teach weekly ad-hoc classes as needed.
Staff Management & Team Building:
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop staff for high levels of hospitality, quality, and value.
- Organize staff training for safety, equipment management, and site maintenance.
- Foster a positive team culture & morale.
Communications & Stewardship:
- Draft external communications and recaps.
- Promote high standards of hospitality, quality, and value.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the studio.
Tactical & Strategic Planning:
- Participate in planning and budgeting processes.
- Build scalable processes for curriculum development and staffing.
Financial Management:
- Assist with financial statements and cost management.
- Review financials and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer payroll and employment record-keeping.
Customer Service:
- Work with Sales & Marketing to resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
- Implement plans to improve guest experiences.
Scheduling & Timesheets:
- Create weekly staff schedules for efficient coverage.
- Monitor timesheets for accuracy and efficiency.
Event Coordination:
- Verify event information and assign staff.
- Track event economics and maintain logs for follow-up.
Reporting:
- Maintain a daily log of tasks, customer feedback and information.
- Enter performance data weekly.
- Send weekly email recaps for schools and participants.
Physical Requirements:
- Move and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work varied shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and potential overnight travel.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of restaurant management experience.
- Skilled in team leadership and development.
- Experienced with inventory and BOH systems.
