The Position
The Opportunity:
Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of Marketing for the Molecular Lab franchise. Responsible for the development and ongoing refinement of marketing strategy and programs that reflect overall vision and direction of the global Business Area. Leverages understanding of industry/customer trends, issues and needs to influence product and service enhancement and effective portfolio management and address changing market and competitive conditions. Partners with the sales organization to ensure products and services are priced and marketed in accordance with budgeted objectives to attain market share growth and profitability targets while adhering to all Good Promotional Practices, AdvaMed guidelines and the RD quality policy. Oversees all people development planning and builds bench strength for long-term success.
Provides senior level direction or guidance for a significant organization or part of the business; responsible for multiple functions, departments, and/or geographic marketplaces. Sets strategic vision and direction; develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the organization in alignment with corporate strategy. Typically has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices for assigned business area. Decisions impact entire Division.
Ensures the RD Quality Policy is understood, implemented and maintained in all levels of the organization. Establishes and maintains an adequate organizational structure, provides adequate resources and actively participates in management reviews to ensure the RD quality system is suitable and effective to satisfy regulatory requirements and the company’s quality policy and objectives. Supports the quality planning process to drive continuous improvement and changes of the RD quality system to ensure ongoing effectiveness and efficiency. Develops and drives a work culture committed to compliance, quality and customer focus.
Job Facts:
Maintains a comprehensive understanding of industry, customers, competitors, regulatory guidelines and environment. Leverages market intelligence obtained from local and global sources to capitalize on opportunities and minimize competitive advantages. Drives dissemination of this information and related analysis throughout the Molecular Lab business as appropriate to drive deeper understanding of the market dynamics, customer requirements and expectations, and the competitive landscape. Engages with the Product Area to influence and manage an effective portfolio strategy including all aspects of product lifecycle management from launch to obsolescence.
Develops and executes marketing strategic plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the profit, revenue, and share growth and expansion of the organization’s products/services. Works closely with the sales leadership /organization to achieve targeted market share growth, sales, margin, and overall marketing strategy execution. Ensures continuous and open communication between sales and marketing organizations to maintain goal alignment.
Leads the overall marketing functions of the Molecular Lab franchise to ensure successful development and execution of all aspects such as pricing, forecasting, marketing science, marketing communications, program management and strategy development for the organization, which will result in the greatest profit over the long run. Provides oversight to budget preparation; ensures spending consistent with directives and available resources, and makes decisions key to effective expense control.
Actively participates as a senior leader and member of the Molecular and Pathology Lab leadership team. Accepts accountability to collaborate across functions, collaborate on organization or area-wide initiatives and role models the Roche values and leadership competencies. Represents the Global Molecular Lab extended leadership team representing the needs of North America.
Continuously refines and improves marketing strategy, marketing philosophy or marketing organization to meet changing market and competitive conditions and customer needs. Implements change successfully through effective stakeholder management, ongoing communication, resource re-allocation, planning and visionary leadership.
Ensures the effectiveness of people through the effective and efficient implementation of people strategies and processes, the optimization of organizational structure. Maintain an adequately and competently staffed organization to successfully deliver on the stated goals and objectives. Recruits, retains and develops people while supporting a culture focused on enabling a high performance organization.
Ensures the RDC Quality Policy is understood, implemented and maintained in the organization. Establishes and maintains an adequate organizational structure, provides adequate resources and establishes appropriate management controls to ensure their group is suitable and effective to satisfy regulatory requirements and the company's quality policy. Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline
10+ years of progressively responsible experience within sales and marketing or a related field including a demonstrated competence to develop and execute strategy
Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels within an organization and across a complex matrix organization
Ability to skillfully lead and direct in challenging and changing environments
Proven ability to select, hire and develop a high performing team; strong ability to coach, counsel and direct employee development
Training and experience in managing in a regulated healthcare company
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Visionary with the ability to think in a positive and creative manner while engaging others to follow
Highly effective communication, administrative and management skills
Ability to champion quality improvement initiatives
Demonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of multi-channel b2b marketing programs
Global experience is a plus, having lived or worked outside the U.S. is a plus
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana Base Pay Range $260,880 - $342,405 Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance, as well as participation in a long-term incentive program.
