The Legal Assistant will assist lawyers and paralegal with domestic and international trademark clearance, trademark and copyright registration, trademark maintenance, renewal and enforcement. Candidate will work closely with attorneys, paralegals and various clients. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively, work well under pressure, work independently, and effectively communicate with clients and all levels of firm personnel.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare U.S. trademark applications, affidavits, and renewal applications and file routine documents with USPTO;
- Instruct and work with foreign counsel on clearance, trademark filings, office actions, renewals and other prosecution and conflict matters;
- Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios;
- Drafting client correspondence;
- Client billing;
- Update docket database (Patrix or similar) for trademarks, copyrights and domain name/general matters;
- Generate and edit status reports;
- Communicate with attorneys, paralegal and clients regarding upcoming deadlines;
- Handle special projects as assigned;
- General office administrative tasks
Requirements:
- Strong consideration will be given to individuals fluent in Spanish;
- Ability to support multiple attorneys and a paralegal in fast paced and dynamic environment;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficiency of Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and manage deadlines;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances
