SUMMARY
Prepare cost estimates for labor, services, equipment, and material costs for proposals and projects, ensuring compliance with established cost and pricing guidelines.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and interpret engineering drawings (e.g. general arrangements, piping, electrical, P&ID) in the preparation of the cost estimate

Take-off of Merichem Proprietary Equipment, Rotating Equipment, Vessel, Piping, Instrumentation and Structural material, which includes requesting quotations from Suppliers and Subcontractors

Work with third party vendors to obtain estimates for services

Estimate labor and material costs for fabrication of subassemblies and basic single product vessels, skids, etc., meeting specification and required codes

Work with Business Development Managers, Sales Engineers and Proposals Department on a daily basis

Assist in documentation and update of the department’s cost database

Perform quality checks on cost estimates generated

Perform cost analyses on projects to detect improvement opportunities and improve the estimating process

Provide cost estimates in a timely manner within the accuracy required

Able to handle challenges and function in a fast-paced environment

Continuously improve cost estimating tools and techniques

Continuously improve the cost estimating process

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
-
High School diploma or equivalent required
-
Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business preferred
-
10 years of cost estimating experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industries required with a High School diploma
-
1-3 years of engineering, cost control or estimating experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industries required with a Bachelor degree
-
Sage (Timberline) software experience preferred
-
Familiarity with Licensed Processes

Knowledge of the Oil and Gas and Chemical industry standards

Familiarity with refining, chemical, and/or heavy industry terminology

Strong organizational skills and ability to establish and balance estimate priorities based on deadlines.

Ability to communicate openly, positively, and effectively

Handle in house project assignments and work tasks with varying lead times to ensure all commitments are met.

Knowledgeable in Oracle, Excel, Microsoft Word, other MS Office applications
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
