Job Description:
As a Food Service Director at our company, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of our food service operations within the nursing home. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of nutritious, delicious meals to our residents while adhering to regulatory guidelines and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning and Development:
- Develop nutritious and well-balanced menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
- Collaborate with dietitians, chefs, and culinary staff to create diverse and appealing meal options.
- Ensure compliance with dietary restrictions and special dietary needs of residents, including those with allergies or medical conditions.
- Food Preparation and Production:
- Supervise food preparation activities to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to food safety standards.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies.
- Monitor portion control and serving sizes to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Staff Management and Training:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise food service staff, including cooks, dietary aides, and servers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for staff members.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and excellence in customer service.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing food service operations in healthcare facilities.
- Implement and enforce sanitation and safety protocols to ensure a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in dietary services and incorporate them into our operations.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for food service operations, including food costs, labor expenses, and equipment maintenance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising quality or resident satisfaction.
- Monitor financial performance metrics and prepare regular reports for management review.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Proficiency in computer applications related to menu planning, inventory management, and budgeting.
- 3-5 years in dining service experience.
