Wenke Greenhouses is a large, family owned, vertically integrated production greenhouse established over 70 years ago. We have four locations Kalamazoo, MI and a sister company in Douglas, GA. We grow and sell flowers year round. Our main crops are annual bedding plants, home-use vegetables, perennials, poinsettias and indoor plants. These crops are sold to garden centers, hardware stores and landscapers throughout the Midwest; the Kalamazoo Flower Group (broker), as well as starter plants to other growers. Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Human Resource Manager and Production Manager, also President and CFO
Location: 2525 N. 30th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49048
Job Summary:
The Administrative Assistant provides support for several departments and multiple managers. This person will represent the company to the outside while also having a significant impact on the internal work environment. Approximately half of his/her focus will be on employee issues while the other half will be on production scheduling tasks. He/She will also be involved with general administrative tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurate time-clock information
- Coordination and communication of employee schedules
- Analysis of benefit eligibility and assistance with implementation
- Posting job openings and initial screening of candidates
- Phone answering and greeting visitors
- Ordering supplies and more
- Exporting and formatting reports and data for production scheduling
- Entering data from the growers, status and production
- Participate in the two-part verification system for production planning
Schedule / work hours:
- 40 hours per week on average year-round
- 7:30 am - 3:30 pm weekdays
- Potential for some additional hours during peak season and when covering the time off for others
Experience Required:
- 3 years of Admin Assistance or similar
Skills Needed:
- Ability to speak Spanish and English highly desired
- Attention to detail

- Significant proficiency with Excel, Google Docs and ability to learn internal software programs (Novatime)

Compensation (Pay rate, benefits, PTO, phone, other)
- $20 -$23 per hour depending on experience
