Role Objectives
Sanara MedTech is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Research Integration and Collaborations Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with a strong expertise in biomaterials for tissue engineering and experience in cell culture, performance, and in vivo testing, specifically for soft tissue applications. Experience with microbiology is a plus. This role involves managing the deployment and interactions with external vendors, planning and assessing in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo protocols and studies, and serving as the point of escalation for study-related operational issues. Responsibilities also include managing relationships with potential partners, maintaining a network with key academic institutions, executing collaborative agreements, and leading contract negotiations. Additionally, the role requires internal project planning and support in the lab on an as-needed basis as well as participation in KPI and OKR reporting efforts, presenting research updates at internal and external meetings, traveling for business purposes, drafting grant applications, abstracts, publications, and supporting IP development. This position demands a proactive, strategic thinker who excels in a fast-paced environment and maintains Sanara MedTech’s competitive edge in all discussions and negotiations.
Essential Functions
- Manages deployment and interactions with external vendors.
- Plans and assesses in vitro, ex vivo, or in vivo protocols including performance and biocompatibility testing.
- Point of escalation for study related operational issues.
- Ensures alignment of budget with protocol needs.
- Reviews contracts and change orders for vendors, as necessary.
- Initiate, lead and manage re-negotiations and terminations as necessary for academic and industry alliances.
- Manage relationships with potential collaborators in a timely and professional manner; ensuring that Sanara MedTech remains competitive in discussions.
- Maintain a strong and effective network with specific key academic institutions and industry partners through engaging in regular interactions and building relationships with their contracts and tech transfer offices, as needed.
- Execute various types of collaborative agreements with academic and industry partners, taking the lead on contract negotiation including more complex transactions.
- Support internal project planning and protocol development.
- Willingness to work in lab on as needed or project-specific basis and support training as necessary.
- Participate and collaborate in reporting efforts with operations to meet KPIs' and OKR's.
- Present research updates internally and externally at meetings and conferences · Travel to meetings, conferences, etc.
- Draft grant applications, abstracts, and publications to support research initiatives and secure funding.
- Support IP development.

Minimum education required for competent performance:
- MS, PhD preferred in the area of biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or other relevant field, with expertise in biomaterials for tissue engineering, specifically soft tissue applications.
Minimum experience (number of years and type of work experience beyond formal education):
- 5 years; ideally in the medical device field

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
