Supervision:
Lead Teachers work under the direct supervision of the Pre-K Director following the guidelines of the Fallston Community Pre-K school curriculum and the mission and vision for the Pre-K set by Fallston Presbyterian Church.
Nature of the Work:
Plans and executes daily lessons.
Formally evaluates student development on a predetermined basis.
Communicates consistently and effectively with parents.
Directs Teacher Assistant in daily classroom activities/materials/procedures.
Coordinates with other staff with regard to school wide or special programs.
Supervises children at all times keeping safety in mind.
Responsibilities:
Prepares and executes daily lesson plans in accordance with school curriculum.
Works with the Teacher Assistant to ensure all materials are ready for daily classroom activities.
Handles discipline problems that occur during the day. Sets up appropriate consequences for certain behaviors in accordance with school policy.
Schedules classroom birthday celebrations, parent helper days, parties, field trips, and programs.
Coordinates with room parent/parent helpers with regard to classroom activities.
Evaluates student development, prepares progress reports, and conducts conferences with parents at least twice a year. Sets goals/plans to encourage student development in needed areas and recommends future action in regard to the child’s development.
Carries out planned field trips using proper school procedures. Responsible for assuring proper documentation is received for all programs.
Performs monthly school-wide duties in accordance with the yearly schedule.
Reviews, understands, and adheres to policies on internal operating controls as they apply to financial management and purchasing.
Keeps a daily attendance log.
Supervises the children’s arrivals and departures from the school.
Attends all in-service days, visitations, professional development opportunities, fundraising events, and staff meetings.
Keeps abreast of new teaching ideas through continuing education classes as required by MSDE, in-service meetings, workshops, staff meetings, common core, and professional resources.
Evaluates and maintains the safety and security of the learning area, and reports concerns and incidents to Pre-K Director.
Prepares classroom for next class by helping Teacher Assistant with their duties and is responsible to make sure all has been done before leaving for the day.
Maintains security of building and property, including but not limited to keeping the building locked during school hours and controlling key access.
All other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications, Training, and Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree from Accredited College or University
A Master's Degree preferred
90 hour class on Early Childhood if required.
2 years experience in Early Childhood Education preferred
A valid Driver’s License
Successfully passes a criminal background check program that is required of all employees who work
around children.
Maintain current CPR/First Aid
TB test with acceptable results
12 hours of approved continuing education for state licensing requirement
(in year Sept.1 – Aug. 31) Six hours must be Core of Knowledge – Curriculum.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance in this position. The Fallston Presbyterian Church signedConfidentiality Agreement is the required guide for maintaining confidentiality in the work of the church. In addition, a Non-Disclosure statement is required to be signed and followed.
All employees will participate in the employee review process when requested by a member of the Personnel Committee. This consists of filling out evaluations of other staff members complete with comments supporting the rating chosen.
Hours:
Class Schedule to be determined. School day hours (9-11:30 am) beginning Sept 1, 2024-May 2025 in addition to all in-service days, visitations, special events, professional development opportunities, and staff meetings. Needs to be in the school at least one half hour before the start of their class to prepare room and activities for the day, and stay at least on half hour after dismissal to clean up the room and put away materials.
Initial Appointment:
Subject to a 90-day probationary period after initial appointment to position.
