Hello!
Pioneer Realty is a small family-run business that my father and I started in 1989. My son joined us about 12 years ago and my oldest daughter just joined us 9 months ago. We have been operating with a Professional Handyman Maintenance Technician & Provider of Resident Satisfaction on staff for a few years now. As we continue to grow, we need another great handyman / maintenance technician to make sure we continue to provide our residents with stellar service, something we are known for.
Does this sound like you???
You’ve got 3+ years working in property maintenance or similar.
You are familiar and comfortable with all things related to residential property maintenance such as; electrical, plumbing, HVAC (or at least the willingness and ability to get certified in HVAC repair), gas (stoves, water heaters, etc.), appliance repairs, sheetrock repairs, painting, a little carpentry here and there, minor roof repairs, decks, windows, floors and more…
You naturally have an attention to detail and take pride in doing the job right the first time.
You have your HVAC type I and II certifications. Or at least you have the willingness and ability to get certified within nine months of coming on board. (Universal would be Great!)
You have a working and hands-on knowledge of household electrical and plumbing repairs, appliance repairs, sheetrock, painting, and other repairs and improvements around the home including occasional lawncare.
You have a valid driver’s license.
You have reliable transportation and a truck is much preferred to a car (we offer a gas allowance).
You have basic tools for most maintenance / handyman tasks (we have a bunch as well).
You are a self-starter with a can-do attitude.
You are ok with and have the ability to work weekends and after hours with on-call availability in the event of an emergency.
You have good communication skills.
And, of course, you’ll be doing unit turns to get things ready and looking sharp for the new folks moving in.
Our properties are located throughout the Richmond metro area so there’s plenty of variety to keep you from getting bored seeing the same property every day. Our residents and us want the job done efficiently and done right, the first time, so attention to detail is high on our list of requirements.
There are single-family homes in terrific neighborhoods as well as small to modest-sized apartment communities that you’d be working on. And don’t be surprised if a resident here or there offers you something to eat or water to drink. We really do have a great bunch of folks in our rentals. We take great pride in the fact that the average resident is with us for a bit over 5 years!
If you are looking for a GREAT work atmosphere where you’ll enjoy much autonomy, have fun, are a highly valued member of the team, and want to be part of a family rather than a cog in the corporate machine, we look forward to hearing from you.
And since most of the maintenance requests are generated directly by our residents in their online portal, being familiar with email and having a smart phone is a must.
We have a more complete job description and can absolutely get that to you if you’d like to see it in advance.
Please do ask us about our Health Reimbursement Account!
Must be able to pass a background check, but I'm guessing that's not a problem for you since you've read this far:)
