Are you burnt out from your bedside nursing job and looking to down-size some hours? We are currently looking for an IN-PERSON, part-time clinical/lab instructor to complement our expanding Nursing Assistant program. Join us in this work with 3 locations available to choose from.

Position Overview:
Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) instructors play a critical role in the success of our NA-C program. They hold the experience, skills and knowledge in their field.
The role is to instruct, observe and guide students as they master the skills and competencies in the lab and during their clinical experience. Clinical and lab instructors are training the next generation of nursing assistants and nurses.
Essential Functions:
Incumbent must have the skills, abilities and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Help students learn 22 WA State Nursing Assistant Skills during in-person skill labs;
- Accompany students during their 40 hours of clinical at established clinical sites;
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, CNAs and facility nurses to assign students patients that would prepare them for work as a CNA;
- Provide lab and clinic instruction to Nursing Assistant students in-person, max 10:1 student to instructor ratio;
- Keep and monitor student class attendance;
- Provide information, as requested, to student’s employer mentors/supervisors regarding course content and scheduling such that employers can coordinate the student’s work activities;
- Provide direct support and support services to students as necessary;
- Facilitate scheduled make-up days to ensure students have the required clinical and lab hours for completion of their courses;
- Ensure each instruction location is re-stocked with supplies and equipment in a timely manner;
- Work cooperatively with Students, Instructors, union staff leaders, employers, local community colleges and universities, and other program partners;
- Interact with and maintain working relationship with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies to facilitate program objectives;
- Attend, as needed, partner meetings, gathering input to ensure proper delivery of program, discussing and resolving challenges that may exist and to ensure as much as possible continued partnership and funding for program;
- Ensure proper documentation of all participants is established and ensure participant information is kept confidential;
- File all program documentation as required (manually and electronically);
- Be on call 1hr before lab and clinicals for urgent student question/needs (directions, call-outs);
- Ability to travel periodically to remote instructional locations for logistics or infill instruction; ability to work in person at least 3 days per week at the assigned Training Fund classroom/lab or clinical site(s). Potential for periodic full time Covid-dependent in-person assignments at alternate teaching/staging locations for classes and labs.
- Acts as an organizational representative in all situations, setting a strong example of professionalism, work completion and quality, and commitment to organizational goals and ethics;
- Establishes work priorities in a highly organized manner while maintaining flexibility in scheduling and adhering to quality requirements and deadlines; and,
- Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- LPN or RN;
- At least 1 year caring for elderly OR chronically ill persons of ANY age;
- Active and unencumbered WA State Nursing License;
- Organizational and data tracking skills;
- Proficient computer skills;
- Support a positive learning environment and the ability to deliver feedback in a constructive manner;
- Ability to work with and guide others when problem solving;
- Work effectively with individuals from academically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds and understand different learning styles;
- Current with changes in the field and experience incorporating work updates into practice;
- Participation in continuing education opportunities to maintain relevant certifications;
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulation;
- Supervising students during clinical rotations;
- Mentoring and coaching students on their professional development;
- Approval of Clinical Instructor Application by the Nursing Commission (Program will assist with application); and
- Up to date on health care setting required vaccines, including seasonal flu shot and Covid.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or precepting students or new employees;
- Bi-Lingual Language Skills;
- BSN or MSN in nursing; and
- Experience as a NA-C (CNA) in any state.
Example of weekly hours/duties:
1-2 days of lab a week ranging 6-8 hours.
Ex: Thursday and Friday 830a-430p
Every 4-8 weeks, 1 week of FULL TIME (40 hours) of clinical instruction/hosting at a clinical site
Ex: Monday – Friday 730a-330p
*do not have to commit to all hours during full week of clinical to help*

- $84.50 per teaching contact hour, including preparation and recordkeeping time. $40.00 per hour extra administrative work as assigned. Independent contractor position, no additional benefits.
