Job Description
The Supported Employment Specialist serves as part of the Supported Employment program. Under supervision, the Employment Specialist provides culturally competent employment support services to individuals who are interested in obtaining employment within the current job market. The program offers continuous support and services throughout employment and onsite skills training to develop work habits and confidence. The Employment Specialist assists individuals with mental health disabilities to access and maintain competitive employment. Assists clients in developing job plans and goals, resume creation, and completion of job applications. Supports clients’ job search and retention, building social skills, and choice impacts. Schedules and maintains frequent in-person meetings with clients, offering support during the first month of employment, and continuously thereafter as deemed by client. Conducts job development processes, meetings with employers and business owners, and develops an employment pool for clients. Performs related work as required.
The hours of work are 28 per week. Required to travel to site locations (Region 2).
This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Employment Support practice

Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)

Ability to work independently

Ability to display provide excellent care services to behaviorally challenged clients
- Ability to work flexible work hours including pre-scheduled nights and weekends

Strong communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience providing education, social, training and employment, direct care services or closely related field to a diverse population.
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
§ Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service, Behavioral Sciences or related field
§ Experience with mental health population and/or business knowledge
§ Bilingual - Spanish
