Director of Applications Development is a key leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction of technology systems and applications to enhance business processes and achieve organizational goals. This position involves managing a team, making technology-related decisions, and ensuring that technology investments are aligned with the company’s vision.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex application portfolios.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

- Retail POS, ERP, and SaaS/Web Application experience is desired.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Functions:
- Lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of all IT applications within the organization.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
- Oversee the application development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Manage a team of application developers, analysts, and support staff.
- Evaluate and select software vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure successful implementation of third-party applications.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy regulations, and best practices.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system efficiency.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.
