Haze is looking for an experienced, dependable and responsible full-time Head Chef, who excels in all kitchen operations as well as leading a team comprising a Sous Chef and several line cooks in a fast-paced kitchen. We are looking for someone with experience, who is also excited to learn, grow, and be a part of this team. We are a growing brand looking to recruit a strong and motivated individual who could become an integral part of the senior leadership.
The Head Chef is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of Haze kitchen operations – including but not limited to opening duties, closing duties, food handling and storage, and menu execution – are executed as per company policies, and official health standards. The Head Chef reports directly to the Restaurant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that kitchen staff adhere to quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Staying up to date with culinary trends and kitchen processes
- Checking deliveries and supplies to ensure that quality standards are being maintained
- Managing inventory and coordinating stock orders with the Restaurant Manager as needed
- Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organising repairs when needed
- Working with the ownership and the Restaurant Manager to develop new dishes and overhauling menus to attract more clientele
- Ensuring that guests receive excellent quality food, where each dish is prepared with extreme care and attention
- Training and supervising all line cooks to ensure all orders are executed timely and with accuracy with respect to special instructions and order modifiers
- Working on the kitchen line during busy service, executing orders, and assisting the line cooks when needed
Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef and/or Kitchen Manager
- Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients/dishes to address questions from wait staff and line cooks
- Strong understanding of food handling standards and hygiene requirements
- Familiarity with inventory management methodologies
- Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
- Excellent personal hygiene and ability to work in an organized and clean manner
- Degree or certificate in Culinary Sciences; any other relevant qualifications are a plus
- Must be available to work late hours, and be on-call as needed
- Must be comfortable working in a smoking environment as shisha is served at Haze
