General Summary of Position
Conducts Strong Heart research on cardiovascular disease in American Indians. Responsible and accountable for patient safety, examination and education, data management, protocol compliance, and knowledge of regulatory affairs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Consistently demonstrates support for compliance in the performance of job duties and responsibilities by a) developing and maintaining knowledge of, and performing job functions in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and statutes that affect his/her job; b) maintaining knowledge of and performing job functions in compliance with MedStar Health and MedStar Health Research Institute policies and procedures; and c) reporting compliance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.

Checks previous phase exam results and participant history, and prepares individual feedback folder of each participant scheduled for clinic and provides individualized health education to each participant on completion of exam.

Conducts field study research activities in accordance with standards of good field practice, SHS protocols and MHRI policies and procedures.

Contacts physicians or participants when indicated for telephonic reports or consultation.

Maintains equipment and supplies for exams and maintains daily equipment QC log.

Maintains participant payment check and incentive logs. Maintains month end exam/results database and provides information for Coordinators conference calls.

Maintains staff QC log and schedules QC evaluations. Maintains weekly clinic schedule office and clinic staff.

Conducts SHS clinical examinations and performs tests and procedures according to study protocols. Assists in maintaining referral database.

Screens and edits participant results. Makes referrals according to study protocols or when indicated.

Supervises clinic flow and coordinates field staff when they are in clinic. Drives RV mobile exam unit to clinic sites, schedules maintenance service for RV components, stocks RV with needed medical supplies, participant snacks/handouts and performs routine cleaning of RV. Refills water tank and takes RV to dump station as indicated.

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. required or

BSN preferred
Experience

Research experience preferred
- 3-4 years Registered nurse required and
Licenses and Certifications

RN license in the state of Arizona. required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Computer knowledge and good organizational skills are essential.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This position has a hiring range of $87,318.40 - $149,094.40
