We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Construction Estimator to join our growing team. As a Senior Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. Your expertise in interpreting blueprints, analyzing material and labor costs, and developing comprehensive budgets will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects.
Primary Duties:
- Analyze construction plans, specifications, and drawings to identify all necessary materials, labor, and equipment required for the project
- Conduct thorough research to obtain accurate pricing for materials, labor, and subcontractor services
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including line-item breakdowns, for all aspects of the construction project
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to refine and finalize cost estimates
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to improve project profitability
- Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data and industry trends to enhance the accuracy of future estimates
- Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with the project requirements
- Provide support and guidance to junior estimators, sharing your expertise and mentoring them as needed
- Proactively identify and vet potential bid opportunities, particularly in the public sector. This involves closely monitoring construction project announcements, bid lists, and other public sources to stay informed about upcoming projects that align with Churchill McGee's capabilities and expertise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, with a proven track record of successful projects
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and drawings
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential cost risks
- Strong mathematical and budgeting skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Proficient in using construction estimating software and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards
Other Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and dust.
- Must have valid driver’s license and supply own transportation; travel required.
- Learn the position and basic responsibilities within 30 days.
