Fluidity Design Consultants is a leading edge, Los Angeles-based water-feature design and engineering firm with domestic and international projects. The firm collaborates with many of the world’s most respected architects, landscape architects, and developers in the realization of site-specific, creative, and technically-refined water features.
Fluidity seeks a project engineer to specify and document pumping systems, piping, and electrical distribution and controls for large-scale water features from concept analysis through commissioning. This work is performed in association with other in-house and outside design-team members.
Fluidity maintains an office in Downtown Los Angeles and operates a hybrid remote-working environment.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years experience in pump and filtration specification, water treatment, piping systems, equipment layout, power distribution, instrumentation and controls; Experience with theatrical-type lighting and controls a plus
· Strong technical writing, verbal, and systems-troubleshooting skills
· Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel and Word; Revit proficiency a plus
· Construction administration process and general knowledge of construction methodologies
· P.E. licensure or eligible for licensure
· Local candidate preferred but open to remote candidates
· Legal status to work in the US
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Duties:
· Coordinate engineering design with project designer
· Participate in internal and external online meetings
· Prepare order-of-magnitude construction and operating-cost estimates
· Analyze project and select mechanical, piping, electrical, and control equipment
· Prepare, sign, and seal drawing packages which include the following documents:
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagram
- Electrical Single-Line Diagram and Panel Schedule
- Equipment Schedule and CSI Specifications
- Piping and Electrical Plan
- Equipment Room Plan and Elevations
- Mechanical and Electrical Details
· Review submittals and respond to RFIs
· Travel to project sites for observation of construction progress and commissioning; Prepare site reports
· Handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Provide engineering leadership aimed towards the evolution of a robust engineering culture within the design studio
