The Quality Engineer will support the production teams in FDL, facilitate continuous improvement activities in our manufacturing operations and utilize standard evaluation methods to ensure product quality and integrity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support Plant Safety initiatives.
· Drive quality improvements and promote a quality culture in all activities.
· Organize, conduct or participate in containment activities as needed. Support local operations and interface with other plants to drive corrective and preventative actions for non-conforming material.
· Execute root cause analyses and consistently drive to prevent defects.
· Lead product rework activities as needed.
· Troubleshoot complex problems related to process variation.
· Access engineering drawings electronically, interpret GD&T, understand tolerances, key product features, capability measures and associated measurement techniques.
· Creation of quality alerts, visual aids and applicable training.
· Perform internal ISO Process Audits as directed.
· Review and approve SIR (Sample Inspection Report) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions from sister plants. Working knowledge of PFMEA and control plans.
· Use data and statistical analyses to inform decisions related to quality, yield and risk. Use data to identify and confirm corrective and preventative actions.
· Conduct mathematical calculations of moderate complexity.
· Participate in CI (Continuous Improvement) training and complete CI projects.
· Perform Special assignments as required.
What you bring to our winning team:
Required
· BS degree in Engineering or related technical field
· Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio. Statistical software
· Good written and oral communication to communicate with all levels of the organization
· Familiarity with GD&T and ability to read & understand engineering specifications, drawings, tolerances & symbols
· Experience with Statistical Process Control, auditing & ISO Quality Systems
· Working knowledge of internal combustion engines, electronics and electromechanical devices.
· Fluent in English AND Spanish AND/OR Japanese.
Preferred
· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Quality Engineer preferred
· Lean Six Sigma certification, preferred
· Related work experience in a marine, automotive, or engine manufacturing plant is preferred
· Organizational skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ability to lead, teach and motivate a team
· Ability to get along with diverse personalities while remaining tactful, professional, and flexible
Desired
· Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Associate with ASQ, desired
