Range $47,249-$88,801 annually with Employer-paid retirement, dependent upon previous experience

POSITION SUMMARY: The school counselor will implement the comprehensive guidance and counseling program according to the State of Nevada’s School Counseling Program Student Standards, which are aligned with the national standards set forth by the American School Counselors Association (ASCA). The employee, utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, will participate in a school-counseling program that promotes and enhances academic achievement, personal/social growth, and career development for all elementary students. This person will be expected to adhere to the LCSD Professional Standards for Licensed Employees as outlined in policy and the CBA and report directly to the school site administrator.

- Administer an appropriate guidance & counseling program that aligns with ASCA.
- Deliver a system of individual student planning, responsive services, and system support within the guidance curriculum.
- Assist teachers in implementing Common Core State Standards as possible.
- Conduct goal-oriented counseling, responsive to identified student needs, relative to student achievement and school success.
- Collaborate with school personnel to assist students with developing skills that support academic achievement, high school graduation, and lifelong learning.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records using PowerSchool as appropriate.
- Participate as a member of the school-based bullying prevention team.
- Ensure compliance with special services such as IEP’s and other related mandates.
- Actively contribute to the School Improvement Plan (SIP) process.
- Work professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community.
- Comply with school and district policies and regulations as well as state and federal laws.
- Abide by the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) Code of Ethics.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

- Facilitate parent and student conferences with teachers.
- Participate in the annual evaluation and revision of the school-counseling program by collecting and analyzing data.
- Work closely with school staff and administration to maintain an effective school-counseling program.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Licenses and Certifications: Must possess or be able to acquire a Nevada counselor’s license issued by the Nevada Department of Education and be certified in the relevant subject area.

PSYCHOLOGIST

POSITION SUMMARY: The School Psychologist will assist students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and strengthen connections between home and school. The School Psychologist will provide a full range of psychological services to children, including screening and assessment, designing remedial education programs, individual and group counseling with school staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate. The School Psychologist functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to determine the student's eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and on-going progress.

- Provide individual and group services to children and/or parents that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct.
- Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations.
- Administers appropriate assessments to students, on referral, interprets results, summarizes findings for parents, and reports findings via approved district procedures; writes intervention plans; ensures that assessments and plans are implemented within stipulated time frames and according to guidelines; processes appropriate referral documentation.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the child's education plan.
- Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting basic education staff with suggestions, pre-referral intervention strategies, and providing recommendations and modifications to assist basic education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting.
- Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child's program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.
- Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g. classroom presentation, co-teaching in general education settings, in-services to staff/parents, etc.) as needed.
- Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re-evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of therapy.
- Support and implement District policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives; demonstrates loyalty to the District and other administrators. Supports and follows the policies and procedures of the school districts served.
- Submit records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently.
