Position: General Manager

Location: Tampa, FL, and Houston, TX Branches

About Us: Budget Heating & Air is a leading co-distributor of heating and air conditioning equipment and supplies, serving customers across the United States and Canada. We cater to homeowners, property managers, HVAC companies, and businesses through various sales channels including our website, in-person, phone, and online marketplaces. We are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and quality products. We aim to exceed customer expectations, creating a seamless and memorable experience that they can't help but share with others...and are excited to do so! Note: We do not perform installations or service work in house, but partner with other licensed contractors to do so.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee operations, staff, and financial performance at our Tampa, FL, and Houston, TX branches. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in small to medium sized office management, capable of driving growth and efficiency while maintaining a positive workplace culture. This role requires occasional travel to the Houston branch (1-4 times per year).

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the administrative and management staff including the Operations Manager, Warehouse Managers, Houston Branch Manager, Purchasing Manager, and all other administrative staff.
Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Handle difficult conversations and resolve conflicts with employees and customers effectively.

Strategic Planning and Policy Development:

Formulate and implement strategies to drive growth and optimize operations.
Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain high operational standards.

Financial Oversight:

Manage budgets and control expenses to ensure financial health.
Monitor financial performance and implement improvements to enhance profitability.
Handle credit card disputes between cardholders and issuing bank as well as actively screening orders for fraud.

Employee Development:

Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of employees.
Conduct regular employee assessments, ensuring timely 90-day and annual evaluations.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Customer Experience:

Address and resolve customer escalated complaints and issues beyond departmental or Office Manager resolution ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Focus on delivering efficiencies and excellence that compel customers to share their positive experiences with others.

Operational Efficiency:

Evaluate and improve operational & personnel procedures and efficiencies.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Address issues such as profit decline, operational & staff deficiencies, and freight disputes.

Reporting:

Prepare and present regular reports to the Owner on various operational metrics during monthly management meetings.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar executive role within a small to medium sized office environment.
Strong background in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management.
Comprehensive knowledge of business processes and functions, including finance, HR, procurement, and operations.
Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving aptitude.
Proficiency in computer use and typing; experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in the freight industry is advantageous but not required.
AA/BS/BA in Business or a relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background & reference check, MVR check
Availability to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with extended hours (up to 50 hours per week) during peak season (May through August).

Compensation:

Starting salary range: $70,000+ per year, based on experience.
