Job Summary

Performs all types of routine maintenance in order to keep museum facilities operating at established levels and providing the appropriate environment for the preservation of the collection.

Performs highly skilled work in several areas in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment, such as carpentry repairs, alterations and new installation of walls, ceilings, cabinet work, doors, temporary stairs, etc. Inspect and performs minor roof repairs as required by the Department.
Uses various power tools, such as table saw, radial saw, grinders, drills, sanders, electric hand saws, and other equipment to complete work assigned. Operate motor vehicles to transport materials and equipment needed to perform the job tasks assigned to this position.
Assists in the replacement of ceiling tiles, and light bulbs. Installs electric lines, switches, and other building components, including masonry work such as concrete floors, blocks, patching of walls and related work.
Assists in the setup and breakdown of special events. Removes trash, debris, and other miscellaneous items from Museum.
Performs general emergency maintenance duties connected to any and all aspects of related work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor for items such as hurricane protection, barricading of ditches, roads, emergency lights, broken road signs, repairing leaks on a permanent or temporary basis and other duties as required.
Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
Performs general emergency duties connected to any and all aspects of related work such as but not limited to hurricane protection, water and/or fire damage and other types of emergencies requiring custodial assistance. Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience.
Valid Florida Driver's - Class E
